Professional Background:
Dr. Nastaran Karami is of Persian descent and was born and raised in Germany where she qualified as a Dentist in 1999 at the Justus Liebig University with Distinction. She further completed her PhD under the supervision of the late Professor Dr. Hans Pancherz, a world-renowned Professor in Orthodontics, at her university. She was awarded Distinction and recognised as one of the youngest students in their cohort.

Although Nastaran initially planned to pursue an academic career in Orthodontics at her university in Germany, she discovered a genuine passion for general dental practice upon moving to London in 1999. There, Nastaran worked at a renowned dental clinic in West London, providing care for a diverse group of patients, including many adults and children with dental phobia. Nastaran’s empathetic approach and sincere care helped numerous patients overcome their fears, focusing on delivering high-quality, yet minimally invasive dental treatments.

Over the years, Nastaran built a loyal patient base, with many coming through word of mouth. During her clinical time in London, Nastaran collaborated with an outstanding team of dentists, nurses, and hygienists, forming long-term professional as well as personal relationships with excellent and well-known specialist colleagues.

International Experience:
Nastaran’s career further expanded with an opportunity at a prestigious dental clinic in Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, UAE, working alongside highly qualified colleagues and an international patient base. Nastaran’s fluency in multiple languages has been a valuable asset in multicultural environments, allowing her to connect with patients and colleagues from various backgrounds.

Current Focus:
In 2014, Nastaran moved to Southsea and has since been dedicated to serving the local community, creating a safe and caring environment for both her team and patients. Nastaran is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate dental care alongside a brilliant team of dentists, nurses, and hygienists, all chosen with great care to ensure that every patient feels comfortable and well-cared for at MediKa.

Following a recent injury, Nastaran is currently focusing on select aspects of dentistry while continuing to support her patients and her team. Nastaran particularly enjoys helping nervous patients, going to great lengths to put everyone at ease and ensure a comfortable dental experience.

Nastaran regularly attends training sessions and webinars to stay up-to-date with advances in dentistry, ensuring that patients at MediKa receive care with the highest quality dental products from the entire oral health team. Nastaran also works closely with excellent specialist colleagues locally in Hampshire to assist patients who require referrals.

Personal Interests:
Outside of MediKa, Nastaran enjoys listening to classical music, travelling, and spending quality time with her 2 sons, her friends & family. Nastaran truly values being a part of the local community and appreciates every opportunity to make a positive impact; in her role as a Health Care Provider and beyond.
